Another pirated project ...

Update:

After asking around, I just found out that the guy who posted the screener video is the composer Felipe Jose Ramirez. The guy who was originally suppose to do the musical score for the short. We believe our old company pulled the project from him (don't know why, I guess they didn't reach an agreement ) ... so he does have a copy, and this is probably the score he was working on. So does that make it less pirated? I don't know :P ... as I've said I'm just happy people still get to enjoy it after 5 years.

end of update

I'm surprised to find that one of the first project we made (one that I'm most proud of) has a pirated screener version floating around in YouTube! If you cared to watch this version you'll find that some parts of it doesn't have backgrounds, meaning this was in mid production and wasn't the final edit. I'm guessing this is one of the copies our former bosses (owner, and lackeys (side comment extraordinaires)) sneaked out to brag to their friends/associates.

Screener version

I once posted about this when I first learned that an old colleague uploaded it on YouTube. It was also the around the same time we learned that someone else was claiming credit for directing the short. So again, Louie Suarez conceptualized, wrote, and directed "PAWN"! Other copies of the video didn't have credits, this one (which is the final product) does.

Original version with credits

I have mixed feelings about seeing this (another project I'm involved with pirated!), but at least it's still out there where people can enjoy it :)

Asteeg. Who knew chess could be so romantic and sweet? hehe

I understand how you feel. But I'd rather have people enjoy the credited version.

If something this good was made years ago, how come the cg on local tv/movies still, for the most part, suck? hmmmm

thanks :D

the answer to your question is simple and sad. it's quite expensive to produce, and people want money. they'd rather invest on big names/stars because it's a sure hit with the masses.

having have worked on special fx in the local scene for a while, i can safely say a month's schedule for cg/fx abroad is done in less than a week here. God knows how many buzzer beaters we've done.
