Weird Weekends 1
Inspired by the documentaries of Louie Theroux on his show entitled "Weird Weekends". I've decided to create some weird weekends of my own. With saturdays and sundays being the only free time in my schedule (usually), it's the only time I can allot for a little adventure. I'm craving for new stuff, perhaps someplace I have never been to or only go to a few times a year. So may the weekends be fair! :D
This weekend I went to the Cartimar shopping center with my 2 sisters. I remember going there when I was younger to buy shoes, but the main attraction for me there was the chain of pet shops! I've never seen so many anywhere else!
I was surprised to see that a lot has changed since I last went there. The place looks cleaner, it's covered for rain, and the squatters who live near the area have been relocated! (their spot was converted into a parking area ... which was a problem for visitors before) I like it :D
I've decided not to bring my camera and just rely on my trusty phone for this visit, knowing some shops here sell illegal pets.
I had a little covert operation going so I didn't get trouble with the store owners (so excuse the crappy shots). True enough there were still some concerning animals being sold as pets, some I couldn't take photos of lest it would blow my cover. Some of the more exotic pets I saw were a baby monkey, vipers, tarantulas, scorpions, a sugar glider, hedgehogs, squirrels, and some sharks ... it was like going to the zoo ;P
Years ago I even saw a wallabe, a sea turtle, hawks, eagles, hornbills, wild cats and other endangered stuff ... there was actually less of that this time.
Aside from pet needs, I also came here for bike accessories and for japanese and korean food ingredients! :D Over all it was an ok visit. Some of the old shops are still missing ... they probably haven't moved in just yet.
On other stuff ... I've done some accounting over the weekend and I've come to the conclusion that I have to do a little belt tightening. I've said before that I'm someone who goes for the bigger things, and to achieve my goals I have to make these few sacrifices (for 2 years or so). Bottom line is I'm seeing the finish line (hopefully) and a little sacrifice to create a boost is certainly a lot of help to win the race ;) Boy, 2008 is turning out to be a year of hard work and big decisions for me ... wish me luck! :D
