Gift daw 2 and more

This is a follow up to my "gift daw" post plus more. It's been two weeks now since our family decided to give up our life sized image of the Virgin Mary, I've stated my that I don't find anything wrong with keeping reminders of our faith ... I just feel that extreme worship is a form of idolatry. And that's not even the worst part, I also feel that some people take advantage and makes these things a business (all in my other post).

After months of observation and research by my cousin, the family finally decided keeping "them" wasn't worth it. As a priest my cousin spoke to even said that images / statues in their church only has 2 sets of interchanging dresses, unlike the "gift" we kept for a good 10+ years which required annual changing and celebrations. Imagine that? I've been telling my parents to give it up like forever, that there's no shame losing face having paid for unnecessary expenses for over 10 years.

A cheap dress cost P5,000 (and I know we only bought the cheapest type in the later years), the party that goes with it is perhaps more than P5,000 having to feed tons of people. Doing service for the Lord is one thing, being swindled is another. I'm really glad my family has finally woken up ;)

On other things, The Brock Lesnar versus Frank Mir bout has finally ended, sadly my bet Brock lost ... but not badly ;D Actually he dominated the whole fight beating Mir to a pulp, but the experienced ex-champ showed experience and caught him with a knee bar ... he wasn't damaged at all! It was a good fight, the better man won but it showed Brock's potential ... now no one can say that he is a fake fighter having almost beaten Mir if not for the unpopular break made by the referee. (Watch the fight! ;D)

Lastly, take a glimpse of Iron man's super bowl teaser! So awesome! :D

I'm Roman Catholic, but I'm not too keen on praying in front of religious statues... It's just to "pagan-ish" for me.

For example, when people "touch" statues, hoping that something good will come out of it... It's like... yeeeeeeesh, equivalent to worshipping the statue itself. It creeps me out.
